Call for Papers

Share your sustainability stories — submit your abstract for IWGM 2026.

The International Workshop on UI GreenMetric (IWGM 2026) will be hosted by Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld (Trier University of Applied Sciences), on 24-26 August 2026 in Germany.

The UI GreenMetric team cordially invites University Leaders from participating universities worldwide to submit abstracts for parallel presentations and poster sessions. Submitted abstracts will undergo a review and selection process conducted by the UI GreenMetric team. Authors of selected abstracts will be notified regarding their presentation opportunities during IWGM 2026.

The submitted papers and presentations are expected to focus on sharing best practices in campus sustainability, as well as showcasing innovative policies and programs implemented at your institution. Papers should be aligned with one or more of the seven UI GreenMetric criteria: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, Education and Research, and Governance and Digitalization. Authors are required to select one primary theme that is most strongly emphasized in their paper.

This year, UI GreenMetric collaborates with the Journal of Sustainability Perspectives (JSP) and the Journal of International and Digital Communication (JIDC). Authors whose abstracts are accepted in the IWGM 2026 program will have the opportunity to choose their preferred journal for full paper publication. Final publication decisions remain subject to the review and editorial processes of each respective journal. We recommend that your full paper contains between 5,000 and 8,000 words.
